Rather than shipping an incomplete/flawed product and then patch it over and over to get it "right" they are taking steps to make sure it is right when they sell it to you, not in months to come.

The only thing they have said, is "When It's Done", because they want the game to be the very best it can be, and they will take whatever time they need to make it so. Right now they themselves don't even know exactly how long this will take, so all dates you see on other sites (like IGN) are pure speculation, and release dates published on sites like amazon are only placeholders until the real releasedate is announced.
The only thing that has been announced, is that there will be a closed alpha test and closed beta test before the end of the year (no applications are accepted for these, it's friends and family only - do NOT trust sites that claim to give you access to the beta; they are fake!).
They have stated that there will be a public beta closer to the releasedate, but when that will be, is also still unknown. Within the guild wars fan community, most people believe it will be either late 2011 or early 2012, but there is no way to be sure.

You can't transfer your pets to a different game. You can display them in your Hall of Monuments and that will unlock "something" in GW2, but no one knows yet what that something will be.
Just have your mini's in your inventory and enter your hall of monuments. Click on the appropiate stand and follow the prompts. This will dedicate the mini to that character and display it in the hall.

You need one of the basic chapters (Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall) along with the expansion Eye of the North to obtain rewards for the Hall of Monuments. Once you have both of these linked to your account you need to go to Lion's Arch and travel to the Eye of the North to start questing for "tapestries" which unlock categories for your monuments.
There is a trick to all of this of course, especially for the early points, and that is to move between different chapters of the game to obtain "easy" points. heroes are of course simpler in Nightfall, while the first campaign to finish might well be simplest at Prophecies, and so on. There are loads of good guides to this on the web, bu on my youtube-channel I made a short summary. This past weekend there was a large press beta event, and later today (February 20) the press will be allowed to talk about their experiences, so look out for that info. Will a geforce 7300 GS graphics card be able to run starcraft 2 and guild wars 2?

I do not understand how you earn stuff in your hall of monuments in GW so it will give rewards in GW2. I have all of the GW's and I want to know what it is that gives you rewards.

The simple answer is: your achievements in GW1 will earn you points in your Hall of Monuments.
But ofcourse there's more to it than that. 'Achievements' can be titles you've earned by playing through the game (see the list of titles on the official wiki for more details there), elite armor or weapons that you have obtained, minipets that you have obtained (either on the birthday of your character, or by buying them from someone else) and companions (heroes with elite armor or rare pets) that you have acquired.
Once you have any of those, go to the Eye of the North outpost, enter the Hall of Monuments there, and dedicate the achievement to the corresponding monument (note: you need to play through the Eye of the North story first to obtain enough tapestries to unlock all monuments). The more different achievements you have, the more your monuments will fill up, and the more points you will earn for GW2.
ArenaNet have set up a dedicated website (hom.guildwars2.com) where you can check your progress, see how many points you have already earned, and what rewards you have unlocked in GW2.
Once GW2 is released, there will be a way to link your GW1 account to your GW2 account, and when you have done that, there will be a version of your GW1 Hall of Monuments in your home instance in GW2. Guild Wars 2 is the only one of the three that looks to be truely revolutionary. It has the most important features that SWTOR has as well (good personal story, fully voiced, character customization, etc), but in addition it has many new features that look like this could cause a change in the way MMO's are made... such as dynamic events that persistently change the world around you, an active combat system in which you can move and dodge while fighting, World vs World pvp in which 3 servers battle against each other, a new way of doing underwater combat, and much more. And yes, it doesn't have monthly fees!
Do note that GW2 isn't "free to play"... it's "buy to play", meaning you need to buy the box (or a license key), but you don't have to pay monthly fees. So it's just a one-time investment.

i hate modern or alien games like SC2 or w/e although great engine and great game. star wars gonig to lack graphics which is fine for most ppl but it got new system for mmo and 3 major companies are adding their special technoligy in that game for example bioware adding choices in NPC story chat, and they've been working on its beta since 2008 and ppl are not complaining about the game which we can assume it will come out good, but still we never can be sure but keep hoping.
and for guild wars 2, no healer no dps no tank ? only support ? no fees ? great graphics OMG i can;t wait but still it will be like skyrim probably but with people around you, and still it might be boring if it got quests like wow for example "kill 10 ppl" collect 10 drop and so on...which i hope not cuz skyrim would be way better... but still we can hope for something from that game.
and diablo 3..i am one of the biggest fans for blizzard games and diablo 3... i just don't know..i know blizzard got their own touch with games which makes them special but diablo 3 ....come on it might be boring...i played torch light it's a good game but i got bored in like 1 hour, and i think it's the system playing with the mouse thing...or something i'm just not sure but i have expectation it will be a big fail, otherwise why would blizzard work on that game for many years now and always delays it.

Guild Wars 2 Engineer, What do we think?
I think personally that the addition of the engineer class has completely ruined guild wars 2. I can now be perfectly sure i won't buy it as this has just taken all the mythical and old weaponry and just thrown it all away, the introduction of grenades and rifles just makes the game seem silly for me.

I think the engineer fits perfectly well in the time and environment that Guild Wars 2 is playing in. We're 250 years into the future from the original Guild Wars, and the cyberpunk/post apocalyptic feel of the advancements since then, really fits well in such a future world. And I believe the engineer is a very well designed class - and probably a lot of fun to play, even if it requires a lot of strategy/planning ahead to get it right and to stay alive. A lot of people love playing this kind of classes (me included), and I'm glad ArenaNet catered to that part of the community. Ofcourse, not everyone has to like it, and not everyone will play it, but it's a pity you let the reveal of this one profession decide that you're not going to play this game... Guild Wars 2 will be a great game in so many ways - it would probably still be a great game even if only half of what ArenaNet have announced for it, makes it into the final game.Guild Wars 2 Engineer, What do we think?

What will be able to run Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 on max settings?
There have been a lot of people (including me) asking if their systems will be able to run up-and-coming games on max settings. Instead of deciding if a bunch of different systems will be able to run them on max or not, I was wondering what specs people are estimating will be needed to run them. To, per say, set the bar on the standard of what max settings will take, so not everyone will feel the need to ask about their particular system specs.What will be able to run Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 on max settings?

Guild Wars 2 will split PvE and PvP apart, so that they don't mix. That is a great thing since it means PvP is for those that want to PvP exclusively, meaning the pacing can be set to their liking, either structured competitive PvP or open-world PvP with huge battles.
PvE players won't get attacked out in the open when they are out doing what they want - as there is no PvP in PvE.

I just got a new copy of Guild Wars because I played it a long time ago and wanted to play it again. But when I put it into my computer it says that there is no disc in the computer. So, I put my Diablo 2 disc into the computer to see if there were any reading problems, but it read the Diablo disc perfectly. Then I switched back to the Guild Wars disc but it gave the same message as before. First, note that the amount of questions when you start a new game, will be significantly more in the final game, than there were in the demos last year.
Now, with regard to customization, you will have lots of different ways to customize your character, and to distinguish yourself from others.
Skills:
- You can select which skills you want to use on your character (some of those (5) are determined by the weapon you wield, others can be freely chosen from the caterogy for the appropriate skill slot - an elite skill, a healing skill, and 3 utility skills)
- You can update the skills that you learn with different traits, so even if two players use the same skills, the effects may be completely different.
Outfit:
- There will be lots and lots of different weapon sets and armor sets to choose from (to obtain), and each of those can be dyed (colored) to your own taste. Armor is a lot more detailed than it was in GW1, and each armor piece can be dyed in up to 3 different areas, to make it look unique.

- Through the choices that you make in your personal quests, you will gain access to specific items, or specific decorations for your house, so your house is customized and will differ from the houses of other players.

They've confirmed that each class will have class-specific missions, but race separations haven't been mentioned. They may or may not happen.
Honestly, they're still in early stages of development, and much is still to be decided for the game, generating missions for the game is one of the later stages of development, after they've got the engine and everything up and running on test servers. The game is not actually going to come out this year as originally stated(They aren't far enough along in the development cycle), so expect to hear a lot more information this winter or the coming spring.Will there be different storylines for each race in Guild wars 2?

I have both Guild Wars Propheses and recently got Faction (GW2). I heard that I can use the very same character from guild wars 1 and play him/her in factions. Im lvl 18 and have gotten as far as Lion Arch, I did a quest that opened a new map that looks like the factions map. However, only one outpost shows up, when will I be able to play the whole Factions map with my Prophises character? PLease help, I dont want to build a new W/R build from scratch. You're on the right track. You have to explore the Factions map the same way you explored Prophecies. When you first started in Prophecies you only had 1 city on your map then (Ascalon). Well now you only have 1 city in Factions. Just follow the storyline and more will open up.

Guild Wars 2 is a new game in pre-production. It won't be released before next year.
So, for the current Guild Wars, there are 4 games. 3 are stand alone campaigns (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) and 1 expansion (Eye of the North).
You can buy any of the campaigns that you want and start playing immediately. You don't need any other game, but if you enjoy the game it's definitely better to own all 4 games.
Eye of the North is the only expansion and all it requires is that you own at least one of the campaigns.

I suspect that because of their turret and bombs they are actually going to be the most common class in the initial wave. Thieves are also going to be popular. Of the announced classes I think that the Ranger and Warrior will be the rarest, -maybe- the Necromancer as well. Of the new classes I think Guardian will be the rarest of the ones announced as of this post, support classes are never the most popular.

I have an Hp pavilion dv6-1230us laptop with 4gb ram and an intel GMA 4500MHD video card. It is not possible to answer that question about Guild Wars 2 yet, as the requirements for GW2 have not been released yet.
All I can say is, that the, although the extra 3GB of system memory is a good thing, the GMA 4500MHD graphics chip is not terribly great for the new generation games. So while it should be able to run the original Guild Wars just fine, it may have problems with Guild Wars 2. It is unlikely that you will be able to run GW2 at high resolution/detail, but if this combination will work at all, or exactly how well it will run, will only become clear once they have revealed the minimum requirements of that game.

In all honesty, just wait for GW2. GW is dead right now because of terrible updates from Anet (the company that runs the servers) and sheer lack of new interest and content. GW2 will have a different feel of gameplay from GW1 and I can guarantee you 100% that they will do everything they can in the beginning of the game to teach you exactly what you need to know to play it (like every other mmorpg)
I've been playing GW for about 3 years now, and trust me you're not missing out on anything but not jumping aboard the GW ship before GW2. Just download a free mmorpg like Grand Fantasia or whatever else is out there if you need to occupy your time...they're just like WoW without having to pay the money and are great for the low low cost of Free.50
Also, Anet has said that while there will be some sort of intrinsic reward for GW1 players in GW2, it's not going to be anything earth-shattering or terribly game-changing. So if that's one of the reasons you're thinking about it then don't waste your time. Filling up your Hall of Monuments will take more time for you than it's worth

Ok well Ive had the nvidia geforce gt 220 graphic card and it works pretty damn well. But with the new guild wars commin out I want to get the system requirements before it comes out (I know it hasent even come out yet).

I just bought Guild Wars and all three expansion yesterday but then today i found out they were already making the second one. I want to enjoy my new game but then a sequel is coming out soon.Does anyone know when guild wars 2 is coming out?

But it should be coming out early next year, but supposedly at Gamescom in Cologne Germany, and Pax Prime in Seattle, USA they will be doing a hands on demo of it.
Heck, I don't even think you can Pre-Order it!
But if my calculations are correct Area Net is probably finishing the game off and slowly giving snip its of it to entice and satisfy Guild Wars fans for until it comes out.

Your best bet is, to keep an eye on the official guild wars 2 site and on the arenanet blog. Both the public beta and the release date will definitely be announced there.
