Guild Wars 2 future and can it be predicted now?

Hello, I wanted to ask a question about the path guild wars 2 is taking. Guild wars 1 made 3 episode packs and 1 expansion pack which the last pack was made in 2007. Ever since then, arenanet has been focusing on guild wars 2.



Are they making any more episodes and/or expansion packs for guild wars 1?



I hope arenanet doesn't drop guild wars completely to focus only on guild wars 2.Guild Wars 2 future and can it be predicted now?

For the first GW, Arenanet has already stated there will be no more campaigns or expansions for the game. They are totally focused on GW2 now. That doesn't mean there won't be any new content though. They added the bonus mission packs a few years ago and more recently they added the Zaishen Missions and Nicolas the Traveler. Over the summer they introduced the War in Kryta and the additional storylines that went along with that. They've stated that more to the story will be added in September after the PAX convention.



I believe they also wanted to add some storyline content to Factions that will start to explain what will happen with that continent heading towards GW2.



Of course after GW2 is released, except a mass exodus of players from the game into GW2. However arenanet has already promised that they will keep the servers up and running for GW1 as long as people are still interested and playing the game. I think GW2 will attract many new players that have never touched GW1 and those folks will probably pick up a copy of the game and play thru it for the Lore background or nostalgia or simply to unlock some of the Hall of Monument rewards for GW2.Guild Wars 2 future and can it be predicted now?
I would like to arenanet in the short term will not give up guild wars, because there are a lot of guild wars player, it is impossible to give up once and for all, I think the future guild wars 2 will be compatible guild wars, guild wars slowly the old players bring to the guild wars 2, the most likely to reduce the loss of players and businessmen.Guild Wars 2 future and can it be predicted now?
