Starting Guild Wars 2, What do I need to buy?

Ok so Im a long time MMO player but have never stepped in Guild wars. I looked at it when it first came out and thought it was boring. However, I want to play guild wars 2 but I don't what I have to buy to play it. Do I just buy guild wars 2 when it comes out? Or do I need to buy the other expansions and level up a charater in order to play Guild Wars 2.Starting Guild Wars 2, What do I need to buy?
You only need to buy Guild Wars 2 - you do NOT need to get or play Guild Wars 1, nor any of its expansion, to get Guild Wars 2.

There is a link between the two games, mostly through the Hall of Monuments, and I elaborated a bit on that in the clip below, but you do not HAVE to play Guild Wars 1 to play or enjoy Guild Wars 2.
You do not need to buy any of the original Guild Wars and its expansions. Guild Wars 2 is completely separate from Guild Wars, and everyone will start from zero. The only link between the two games, is the lore... the story in Guild Wars 2 takes place 250 years after the story in Guild Wars 1. But even there, you do not have to play through the original Guild Wars to understand the story in Guild Wars 2... everything you need to know will be explained to you in-game.



So all you need to buy to play the game, is Guild Wars 2 when it's released later this year.



You can already pre-order it from some retailers (such as Amazon). It's likely that they will release expansions for Guild Wars 2 at a later date, in which case you have the option to buy those as well, butStarting Guild Wars 2, What do I need to buy?
You don't need Guild Wars 1, or any of its expansions, to play Guild Wars 2. There is a small bonus (in the form of exclusive titles and costumes) available to people who have Guild Wars 1 and have done a lot of end-game content, but that is the only bonus.
Buy Game, install, maybe update, play. When expansion comes out buy expansion, install, play. In the mean time you might want to prepare you computer as well. I'd say duo core, 4 gb ram or more, nice gpu equivalent to 8800 gt or better.Starting Guild Wars 2, What do I need to buy?
