Will my guild wars event items carry over to guild wars 2?

Alright its new years and there are some cool new suits to buy on the guild wars shop, but what is it worth buying if Guildwars2 comes out in the next couple months or so?! soo my question is will my festival clothes or my event stuff carry over to guild wars 2??Will my guild wars event items carry over to guild wars 2?
No, they will not "carry over" from one game to another.

However.

By playing GW1 you are creating your own legacy, which will translate to gear in Guild Wars 2. This is handledthrough a mechanic in the Hall of Monuments in Eye of the North. The more things you manage to put in there, the more points you will get, and this translates into awesome gear for your GW2 characters! I will put a link to the mechanic below.



As for "coming out in the next couple of months". The development-team behind GuildWars 2, Arenanet, have repeatedly said "When it is done" and for good reason.

They don't want to tie themselves down with a releasedate and then have to rush the job.



There are some thoughts that it would be done in....

... a few weeks (but that's not happening, trust me)

... six months (highly unlikely)

... a year (which would be Q4 of 2011) - the far more likely alternative

... more than a year (makes little sense, since building anticipation this far in advance is detrimental to sales)
